Here’s a smart strategy to make ice cubes last longer. Boil a pot of water for 5 minutes, then carefully pour into ice-cube trays and freeze. Ice cubes contain trapped air that causes them to melt in minutes but when you boil the water, air is released resulting in dense crystal clear cubes that stay cold for up to 40 minutes longer.

3Thanks for the tip. I had a freind who was a plumber and he mentioned that when you do this the ice cubes are clearer. Did you find this to be true?
