For easier cleaning after cooking, it’s best to block the mess from happening.  Cover adjoining burners that are not in use with aluminum foil or extra pot lids when frying or sauteing.  When baking drippy pies or casseroles, line the lower rack of the oven with foil or a cookie sheet.  Lids, pans and cookie sheets are much easier to clean and can be washed in the dishwasher.

If in case an oven spill happens, immediately sprinkle a liberal amount of salt to soak up the mess.  Allow it to cool, then nudge the crusty stain loose with a spatula or an old credit card and wipe clean.  The salt will help you clean up the mess easily wihtout scratching your oven.
