Next time your son drips a blob of mustard on his favorite shirt, wet it with hot water and cover with 1 tsp. white shaving foam.  Let it sit for 5 minutes, then scrub with a cloth and rinse well.  Grass, herbs, most vegetables (even tomato sauce and ketchup) and sweet fruits like berries, cherries and plums contain pigments that deposit dye onto absorbent fibers.  The shaving foam’s concentrated alcohols will easily dilute the dye and loosen its bond to the fabric.  After rinsing the fabric, launder as usual.
